Design
Electrical and electromechanical systems designed to run tests on assemblies of varying complexity and nature, from the preliminary design submitted at proposal stage through to the user manual, across all three disciplines: mechanical, electronic and software.
What it covers
Covers system architecture and design across all three disciplines — mechanical, electronic and software — from the preliminary design submitted with the proposal through to the drawings the system is built from. It includes analysis of the customer requirements, component selection and identification, electrical and mechanical sizing, schematics, assembly drawings and 3D modelling where the supply is a cabinet.
What it leaves behind
It leaves a design file: system specification, electrical schematics, bill of materials, assembly drawings, 3D models, and the traceability between what was asked for and the solution that answers it. These are the documents the customer runs its own design review on, and the same ones the test procedures are later written against.
Where it ends, where the next one starts
It ends when the drawings are frozen and approved: from that point a change is a configuration change, with its own route, not a second thought. Integration begins, and builds what the design described — which is where it becomes clear whether the design was buildable.
