Universal work-holding fixture for helicopter blades

A work-holding system replacing a set of dedicated jigs with a single reconfigurable fixture for blades of varying geometry. System design, mechanical, electronic and software development, on-site installation and AIT.

The fixture mounted on the machine table: clamping modules aligned on the rail, with commanded clamping and position references
Machine-side operator panel: configuration selection, part positioning and removal, door status and safety-contact status
Control cabinet with the door open: input and output modules at the top, axis drives at the bottom, trunking and terminal blocks on the uprights

A work-holding system that supports and clamps helicopter blades of varying geometry on the table of a gantry machine tool, for a European helicopter manufacturer.

It replaces a set of dedicated jigs with a single reconfigurable fixture: several clamping modules aligned on a rail, with commanded clamping and position sensing, so that changing blade becomes a matter of setting up rather than re-fitting — minutes instead of hours, and above all a repeatable configuration instead of one left to the fitter.

It is the only entry in which IN SY TO delivers a complete machine across all three disciplines at once — mechanical, electronic and software — and installs it at the customer's site.
